GMO

Everybody knows that, France has a major problem, J.Bove. In this intervention, I will not speak directly about him, but about the movement which he leads. ‘Les faucheurs volontaires’.
You certainly heard that they attacked of the platform of storage and drying of corn of the SNC on Saturday November 4 in Lugos (Gironde) by these artermondialists who in the content make only proner the destruction of the scientific innovation in the agricultural world. This syndicate is responsible for it and inspirator.
I have two main criticisms has to bring to these actions.
First, the authors are dangerous. On the example of Lugos, weapons circulated among the activists as well as the owner of premises was armed. The action would have turn this day to the drama.
Second, these actions are hypocritical.
In France first, the main part of the GMO cultivated is intended to therapeutic essays. So, when they limit the essays, they limit the possibilities of action of the medical research. Abroad then. This movement wishes to settle an international moratorium on GMO. And here, the word ‘hypocrisy’ takes all of its sense. How to imagine a come back for countries which do not have enougth food for their population ? The best example is India. This country knew a few years ago important disasters due to an invasion of locusts, when the GMO cultures were not developped like today. Then how to tolerate a such movement which is a public danger, and goes against the scientific evolutions.
In fact, if I fight for these new cultures, it is because they answer the challenges of an agriculture of mass, which takes into account the problems of quality and diversity. Indeed, the geneticaly modified organisms will bring tomorrow new characteristics allowing specialized cultures to growth. They already offer useful solutions to use better the chemical adds, and could even open new objectives to respect some constraints linked with the biologic agriculture.
